DESPERATION KICKS IN AT CITY AIRPORT

Local residents group HACAN East dismissed a new “community pledge” for the London Borough of Waltham Forest as both “desperate and irrelevant.”  The plan, launched by London City Airport on Thursday, highlights a “five-point community pledge” for residents of Waltham Forest. The plan offers nothing specific for the borough.

At the same time London City released the findings of a poll which showed that “77% of East London business decision-makers are in favour of London City Airport’s expansion plans.”  Comres, on behalf of City Airport, polled “business decision-makers” in Canary Wharf, Westminster, Soho and the City (1)

John Stewart, Chair of HACAN East, said: "These tactics are both desperate and irrelevant in equal measure. The plan offers nothing for the people of Waltham Forest or indeed the people of East London.  And the poll stretches the definition of East London beyond belief.  It places Soho in East London.  London City’s new PR team need to brush up on their geography pretty quickly.”

The Airport will also distribute 27,000 leaflets to Waltham Forest residents, as part of 136,000 leaflet drop across East London boroughs.
